Panoramic Parenzana Biking Tour (from Koper)

Parenzana connected 33 villages between Trieste and Parenzo (town’s Italian name). In Slovenia it connects four small towns. It starts from Ankaran, proceeds to Koper, Izola, Strunjan, Portoroz and Secovlje.


Parenzana is a popular cycling trail between Trieste and Porec. Railway line ran some 130km.  This path is for visitors’ great way to see the beauty of the Istrian countryside.

In recent years the cycling route has become a symbol of friendship amongst the three nations it passes through. Along the way you will get interesting information about the history of the Istria region. The whole route had 8 tunnels and you will cross two tunnels in Slovenia.

You will take the sights, smells and sounds of various old towns and villages, olive grooves, vineyards and seaside landscapes and tunnels.


The Parenzana trail is known as a trail of friendship between the countries, as this was the most important road between the major cities to transport various goods, from food, clothes etc. When railyway became officially closed, the government of all three countries agreed to open the ultimate biking trail on the route. One is between Izola and Strunjan and second named Valeta is between Strunjan and Portoroz. Along the coast you will cycle towards the fishing town of Izola and reach Portoroz.
