Description

The Postojna cave system is the longest with cave passages over 20 kilometres. The hydro logical system is about 2 million years old, with magnificent formations of stalactites and stalagmites. You will enjoy an exciting mini-train ride through a breathtaking underground landscape and have a chance to visit unique stone carved castle! Postojna cave is a must visit stop while visiting Slovenia. Its magical interior will capture with its incredible natural formations. You will be able to admire and learn about the cave formations while listening to the local guide in the cave. Before exit you will have the chance to see the baby dragons in their habitat. 
 
Next stop is the medieval Predjama Castle, known for its incredible architecture on a rock. Your visit offers you the time to visit the interior and maybe feel the brave lifestyle the knights were famous for. Upon the visits the tour will make its way back to your starting point. On the way, if time permits you can stop for some more photo opportunities.

Itinerary

Be ready to enjoy a day discovering Slovenian underground. When preparing for the day, please be sure to take a jacket and good walking shoes. We always recommend to dress in layers. Your guide will pick you up at the confirmed location.

You enter the cave through the main entrance. The first part of the tour is done by the small electric train, which takes you into the depths of the cave, from where you continue your discovery of many chambers and corridors up to the baby dragons and finish your tour in the concert hall. The last part will be done with the electric train, all the way to the exit. Please note that the walking path in the cave is about 1,5km long.

Only 20 minutes away by car, lies the majestic Predjama Castle. Dug into the mighty rock on a rocky outcrop, which was once the home of the brave knight Erazem. The tour lasts about 60 minutes, during which you can visit the interior of the castle and admire the mediaeval architecture. Remember that this is one of the best photo stops in Slovenia.

The day was filled with incredible sites, you are now ready to return back to your starting point. Enjoy the images that you have seen while remembering the experiance.

Postojna Cave system is the largest known cave system in Slovenia. They are most popular in tourist attractions, located on the main road and rail routers to the coast. The caves were opened to the public in the early 19th century, with the first visitor of honor being the Austrian Emperor.

The Postojna cave system is the longest with cave passages over 20 kilometers (12 miles) in length. Postojna Caves lie under the slopes of a broad karstic limestone plateau on the eastern fringes of the Postojna basin.

Just ten minutes far away from Postojna caves is Predjama castle, another jewel of the Karst region. Predjama Castle pressed into a huge cavern hollowed out of the high, flat rock face, above the karstic swallow hole of the Lokva stream – is as unforgettable.
